Spring into Spring in the City

Spring has sprung and just because we are urbanites, doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the green of the season right in our own “backyards.”

Family Fun

Start with a trip to our farm, The Golden Earthworm. (Yes, I call it our farm.) June is the ONLY month you can pick your own strawberries and pretend to be a real life farmer…without all the actual hard work put into the planting, maintaining, etc.

Enjoy the Mongolian foal at the Bronx Zoo. (Be sure to check out their totally green toilet while there too.)
Perhaps Nubian kids are more your thing. If so, Visit the Queens Zoo.
Wallabies your favorite? Check out the babies at the Prospect Park Zoo.
And if it be Banded Mongoose pups that set your heart a flutter, make a trip to the Central Park Zoo. (Check out Hecksher Playground while you are there. The Egyptian theme and water paths will thrill the wee ones.)

If botanical therapy is what you seek, check out New York Botanical Garden“s Gardens of Alhambra, a Spanish themed experience complete with food and flamenco dancing. $20 for nonmembers and free for members. While there, check out the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden and the Ruth Rae Howell Family Garden.  This month thery are featuring hands on gardening for families. Is there any better way to celebrate Spring?
