VOLUNTEERING

We are entirely volunteer-run. All our members volunteer, mostly at our distribution site.

Hours TBD after signup is complete. Usually around 6 hours for the season.

SHARES:

Full Vegetable Shares and Partial Vegetable Shares.
Our farmers at Hawthorne Valley Farm offer two different shares: full and partial. The full share contains approximately 10 items per week. The partial share provides approximately 6 items per week. All items are selected by the farmers, who aim to offer you diversity across the season.

Local Fruit Share

Seasonal fruit share every week. Our farmers partner with their regional neighbors at Thompson-Finch Farm, Grindstone Farm, Fishkill Farm, and others.

The season usually starts with strawberries, then blueberries, peaches, plums, pears, and always a great variety of apples and fresh pressed cider.

ADD-ONS: Weekly and/or bi-weekly shares are available for the following products:

• Yogurt

• Buttermilk

• Cheeses

• Breads

• Meats (beef, pork, & chicken)

• Eggs

• Granola

SUBSIDIZED VEGETABLE SHARES

Please see the chart below for income guidelines and note that they are for total PRE-TAX income (not take-home pay) and are subsidized by your fellow CSA members. Low and middle-income shares are given out on an as-needed basis to the extent that we can afford to subsidize them. Family size and income are calculated by the number of people eating the share (whether or not they are related) and those people’s total pre-tax income from all sources, not just salary. Subsidized shares are given out on the honor system, although the Forest Hills Core Group reserves the right to request supporting documents. If you meet our requirements for a subsidized share, please email us at info@foresthillscsa.com, and you will be given the discount code.
