WHAT’S HAPPENING ON THE FARMGreetings, The season has swung from drought to deluge. The farm has recently received its fair share of rain but we luckily avoided the large devastating rain that flooded parts of New York and Vermont. It has been over a week since we have been able to plant anything because the fields are too wet to get into. So as the old saying goes, we can’t dance and it’s too wet to plow. Meaning we found other tasks to keep us busy. There is never a lack of work to be done around the farm. Much of our time week to week is now spent harvesting. We harvest Zucchini , summer squash and Cukes every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Hours go into this task. When we first started all of our forearms and hands were covered in hundreds of tiny cuts. Even the “spineless” varieties are still viscous. Long sleeves help but as the temperatures increase they become uncomfortable. It is not a staff favorite needless to say. But it is pleasant to be in the cucurbits early in the morning when we are outnumbered by bees as they move through the plants pollinating the flowers. The bees are so focused on their work that one can harvest the crop and be fearless of getting stung. Finding that connection with nature while pushing through a difficult task is one of the joys of farming. Todd and the Farm Crew |

PICKING UP YOUR SHARE The site host is Marina Kubicek and she can be contacted at info@foresthillscsa.com CSA shares are pre-boxed. A volunteer will check your name off of the list, ensuring that you receive your share and any add-on items, fruit and/or eggs. If there are ever any mistakes, this person will make note to share with the farmers, so that can correct any issues the following week. FARM CONTACT If you ever need to get in touch with the farm directly, please email us! |
CARDBOARD BOXES Please remember to bring your own bags to get your vegetables! Follow directions from your site host regarding return of CSA boxes. No returns of egg cartons or fruit containers, please. We cannot reuse these on our farm. We can accept returns of the folded cardboard boxes that hold the fruit containers.
