2014 Membership

Our 2014 contract was emailed Tuesday, March 4th.

To get the 2014 contract, please email info@foresthillscsa.com

For the 2014 season, we have vegetable, fruit and herb shares.  We also have middle and low income vegetable shares, as our finances allow.

Our farmers at Golden Earthworm Organic Farm [GEOF]  have changed their minds and decided to offer an herb share for 2014.

The herbs offered are slightly different than last year, so do read the description:

  • 12 weeks (possibly non-continuous)
  • During the months of July, August and September.
  • There will be a wide variety of herbs, including basil (thai and purple), parsley, dill, cilantro, mint, rosemary, thyme, oregano, sage, chives, garlic chives, tarragon and lavender.
  • There will be 2 types of herbs per delivery except for a few deliveries where there will be just green basil for making pesto.

Because of the unpredictability of the tomato season, tomato shares will be offered directly from GEOF, as they were last year.  Sign-up for tomato shares will occur during the tomato season, probably in August and September, once they know how many shares are available.

The 2014 season will start on Tuesday, June 3rd and run for 26 weeks through to November 25th.  Our distribution is on Tuesdays from 4-8PM at The-Church-in-the-Gardens, 50 Ascan Avenue.

The vegetable share, from GEOF, is $586.04. It will include strawberries and a few melons, as it has in the past. To get a better idea of the amount of food in a vegetable share, you may want to look at old newsletters .

The fruit share is $154.00.  The fruit share is from Briermere Farm and does not include strawberries this year. The Briermere Farms Fruit Share is primarily an Apple, Peach & Berry (Blueberries, Raspberries, Blackberries & Gooseberries) Share, with a few other varieties of fruit mixed in.  It will be approximately 16-20 non-continuous weeks.

This year all members will need to have a vegetable share and we are not offering fruit-only membership.

Sorry, but we do not offer half shares.

Forest Hills CSA members may also order from the Lewis Waite Farm Network [LWF] <www.csalewiswaitefarm.com>.  LWF offers local grass-fed beef, lamb, bison, goat, free-range chicken, turkey and duck, eggs, organic grains and beans, honey, maple syrup, jams, cheeses, yogurt and more.
